Plan a Route to a Contact

Plan a Route to a Contact helps you check directions from your current location or selected starting point to a saved connection’s location. This is useful when you want to visit a contact, compare route options, or understand how far a connection is before planning a meeting.

Use this guide when you want to get directions to a contact, understand route options, or fix issues when route details are not loading.

What this page helps you do

This guide helps you understand how route planning works in Connecti5, how to select a destination, how route options are shown, what location data is required, and what to do if routes are not available.

When should you use Plan a Route to a Contact?

Use this feature when you want to travel to a saved connection or understand the best way to reach them.

This is useful when:

You want to visit a client, vendor, partner, or business contact.

You are checking how far a saved connection is from your current location.

You want to compare route options before travelling.

You found a nearby contact and now want directions.

You are planning meetings during travel, events, exhibitions, or business visits.

If you only want to see contacts on the map, use View Contacts on the Map. If you want to discover contacts around your current location, use Find Nearby Contacts.

How route planning works

Connecti5 uses your starting location and the selected contact’s destination location to show route options on the map.

The app can fetch route options such as fastest, shortest, and alternative routes. Each route may show distance, estimated duration, and a short route summary before you choose which route to display.

The developer analysis confirms that the route selection flow can show up to three route options from the Google Directions API, including fastest, shortest, and alternative route options.

How to plan a route to a contact

Follow these steps to plan a route:

  1. Open the Connecti5 app.
  2. Go to the map view.
  3. Select a contact marker or open the route option from the map controls.
  4. Allow location permission if the app asks.
  5. Use your current location as the starting point, or enter a different starting location if the option is available.
  6. Select the contact or destination location.
  7. Wait while Connecti5 loads route options.
  8. Review the available route options.
  9. Select the route you want to use.
  10. Tap Show Route if the app asks for confirmation.
  11. Check the route line shown on the map.

After selecting a route, Connecti5 shows the route on the map between your starting point and the contact’s destination.

Before you start

Before planning a route, make sure your internet connection is active and location permission is enabled.

The contact should also have valid address or coordinate details. If the contact does not have usable location data, Connecti5 may not be able to create a route.

Route planning needs:

Your current location or selected starting point Contact destination address or coordinates Internet connection Map service availability Location permission, when using your current location

Choosing a destination

You can plan a route to a contact only when the contact has valid destination information.

This can include:

A saved address Latitude and longitude A map location A location generated from address autocomplete A location saved during manual contact creation or scanning

If the contact has only name, phone number, or email, route planning may not work because the app does not know where to route you.

Understanding route options

When route options are available, Connecti5 may show multiple choices.

Fastest route

The fastest route is usually based on the lowest estimated travel time.

Shortest route

The shortest route is usually based on distance.

Alternative route

An alternative route gives another possible path when more than one route is available.

The developer analysis confirms that the route selection sheet may show route name, duration, distance, summary, and a “BEST” badge for the default option.

What happens after selecting a route?

After you select a route, the app draws the route line on the map.

You may see:

A starting point marker A destination marker A route line between the two locations Distance and duration details Contact markers near or along the route, depending on the map view

This helps you understand where the contact is located and how you can reach them.

Important difference between nearby distance and route distance

Nearby distance and route distance are not always the same.

Find Nearby Contacts may use straight-line distance to calculate whether a contact is near you. Route planning uses road directions, so the actual travel distance may be longer.

For example, a contact may look close on the map but may require a longer road route because of traffic, roads, bridges, one-way routes, or area layout.

Common problems and fixes

No routes are available

This can happen if the starting point or destination is missing, invalid, or not reachable by the route service.

Check whether the contact has a valid address or coordinates. If needed, edit the contact and update the address or location details.

Route is taking too long to load

Route planning depends on internet and map service response. Wait for a few seconds.

If it still does not load, check your internet connection and try again.

Destination address is not found

The saved address may be incomplete or not recognized by the map service.

Edit the contact and choose a clearer address suggestion if available. You can also add coordinates manually if the app supports it.

Current location is not detected

Check whether location permission is enabled for Connecti5 and whether GPS is turned on.

If you are indoors or in an area with weak signal, move to an open area and try again.

Route opens from the wrong starting point

Check whether the “From” field is using your current location or a manually selected location.

If the app allows swapping or changing the starting point, update it before generating the route.

Route goes to the wrong place

The saved contact location may be incorrect.

Open the contact details and verify the address, coordinates, or map URL. Update the contact if needed.

Contact appears on map but route does not load

A marker may appear if approximate location data is available, but route planning may still fail if the coordinates are invalid, incomplete, or not usable by the route service.

Update the contact location and try again.

I cannot see map controls during route mode

Some map controls may be hidden while route mode is active. The developer analysis notes that map controls are hidden during route mode, so this behavior can be expected.

I want walking or cycling directions

Currently, the route flow is focused on driving directions. Walking, cycling, and public transit modes may not be available in the app route view.

Error or empty messages you may see

You may see messages such as:

“No routes available.”

This usually means Connecti5 could not find a valid route between the selected starting point and destination.

You may also see a loading spinner while route options are being fetched. If loading does not finish, check your internet connection and confirm that the destination location is valid.

Important limitations

Route planning requires internet access.

The contact must have valid address or coordinate information.

Location permission is needed when using current location as the starting point.

Routes are focused on driving directions. Walking, cycling, or transit directions may not be available.

Up to three alternative routes may be shown.

Route calculation depends on external map and directions services.

The in-app route is for planning and previewing. Turn-by-turn navigation may open separately through external map apps if available from Quick Actions.

Still need help?

If route planning is not working, contact Connecti5 support or send feedback from the app.

When reporting the issue, share your registered email or mobile number, the contact you tried to route to, whether the contact has an address or coordinates, whether location permission is enabled, the error message you saw, your device name, app version, and a screenshot of the route screen if possible.
