Import Contacts from Excel or CSV

Import Contacts from Excel or CSV helps you add multiple business connections to Connecti5 at once. Instead of saving each contact manually, you can upload a supported spreadsheet file and bring your contact data into the app in bulk.

Use this guide if you already have your contacts stored in an Excel or CSV file and want to import them into Connecti5.

What this page helps you do

This guide helps you understand how to download the import template, prepare your contact file, upload an Excel or CSV file, review import results, and fix common file upload or import errors.

When should you use Excel or CSV import?

Use this option when you have many contacts saved in a spreadsheet.

This is useful when:

You are moving business contacts from another system into Connecti5. You already have a list of people with names and mobile numbers. You want to add multiple connections faster than manual entry. You want imported contacts to become available for search, filters, map, and other Connecti5 features.

If you only want to add one person, use Add a Connection Manually. If your contact is on a visiting card, use Scan a Business Card. If the contact is already saved on your phone, use Import Contacts from Your Phonebook.

Supported file types

Connecti5 supports these file formats for import:

Excel .xlsx Excel .xls CSV .csv

The maximum supported file size is 10MB. The developer analysis confirms that the import flow accepts .csv, .xlsx, and .xls files with a 10MB file size limit.

Required contact fields

Your file must include the required columns before import.

The required fields are:

Name Mobile No

Optional fields may include:

Company Name Email Address

The first row of your file should contain column headers. If required columns are missing, some contacts may fail during import.

How to import contacts from Excel or CSV

Follow these steps to import contacts into Connecti5:

  1. Open the Connecti5 app.
  2. Go to the Import Connections or Import Contacts section.
  3. Download the sample Excel template if you do not already have the correct format.
  4. Open the template and add your contact details.
  5. Make sure the file includes Name and Mobile No.
  6. Save the file in .xlsx, .xls, or .csv format.
  7. Return to Connecti5.
  8. Tap the upload area and select your file from the device.
  9. Check that the selected file name appears on the screen.
  10. Tap Import Data to upload the file.
  11. Wait until the import process is complete.
  12. Review the success, failed, or skipped record count if shown.

After a successful import, your contacts should appear in your Connecti5 connections list.

Before you start

Before uploading your file, check these points:

Make sure your file is in Excel or CSV format. Make sure the file size is not more than 10MB. Make sure the first row contains column headers. Make sure Name and Mobile No are available for every contact you want to import. Make sure your internet connection is active. Make sure you are logged in to Connecti5.

On Android, storage permission may be required to select a file from your device.

What happens after import?

After the import is completed, Connecti5 adds the valid contacts to your connections list.

Once imported, those contacts may become available for:

View Contacts on the Map, if address or location data is available. Filter Your Contacts, if category or tag data is available. AI Network Intelligence, if enough useful contact details are available. Quick Actions, if phone, email, or address information is available.

If some records fail or are skipped, Connecti5 may show a result dialog with imported, failed, and skipped counts. In some cases, you may also get an option to download failed records as a CSV file for review.

Why some contacts may fail during import

Some records may fail if required details are missing or formatted incorrectly.

Common reasons include:

Name field is empty. Mobile No field is missing. Phone number format is incorrect. Email format is invalid. File has wrong column names. First row is not used as headers. File type is not supported. File size is above 10MB. Duplicate contact already exists. Authentication token has expired.

If failed records are available for download, review them, correct the issues, and import the corrected file again.

Common problems and fixes

File format is not accepted

Check whether your file is saved as .csv, .xlsx, or .xls. Other file types may not be accepted.

If your file was exported from another system, open it in Excel or Google Sheets and save it again in a supported format.

File size is too large

Connecti5 supports files up to 10MB. If your file is larger, reduce the number of rows, remove unnecessary columns, or split the file into smaller files before uploading.

Required columns are missing

Make sure your file includes Name and Mobile No columns. These are required for importing contacts.

If you downloaded the template from Connecti5, do not remove or rename required headers.

Contacts imported but not showing on the map

Imported contacts appear on the map only when they have usable address or location details. If your file has only name and phone number, those contacts may appear in the connections list but may not appear on the map.

Add address details or update the contact manually to improve map visibility.

Some records were skipped

Skipped records may be duplicate, incomplete, or invalid. Check the import result message. If failed records are available, download and review them.

Import failed because authentication token was not found

This usually means your login session may have expired. Log out, log in again, and retry the import.

Upload is taking too long

Large files or slow internet can delay upload. Wait for the upload to finish. If it fails, check your connection and try again with a smaller file.

Duplicate contacts are not imported

If a contact already exists, Connecti5 may skip it to avoid duplicate entries. Check whether that person is already available in your connections list.

Error messages you may see

You may see messages such as:

“Opening download link in browser,” “Failed to open download link,” “Authentication token not found,” “Imported Successfully,” “Imported Successfully, X skipped,” “Import failed,” “Upload error,” or “Failed records downloaded.”

These messages help you understand whether the template opened correctly, the upload succeeded, some records were skipped, or the import failed due to login, file, or server issues.

Important limitations

Only .csv, .xlsx, and .xls files are supported.

The maximum file size is 10MB.

Name and Mobile No are required fields.

Other details such as company name, email, and address are optional.

Server-side quota limits may affect how many contacts can be imported.

Failed records may need to be corrected manually and re-imported.

Still need help?

If your import is not working, contact Connecti5 support or send feedback from the app.

When reporting the issue, share your registered email or mobile number, the file type you tried to upload, the approximate number of contacts in the file, the error message you saw, and a screenshot of the import result if available.

Do not share sensitive contact files publicly. Share files only through the official support channel if the support team requests them.
