Feature Guide / Map & Nearby

Find Nearby Contacts

Find Nearby Contacts helps you discover saved connections around your current location by adjusting the nearby distance range. Instead of checking every contact manually, you can use distance-based filtering to see which people from your network are available within the selected radius.

Use this guide when you want to find people near you, expand or reduce the nearby range, or understand why nearby contacts may not appear.

What this page helps you do

This guide helps you understand how nearby contact search works, how to adjust the distance range, how location permission affects results, why some contacts may not appear nearby, and how to fix common nearby search issues.

When should you use Find Nearby Contacts?

Use Find Nearby Contacts when you want to check which saved connections are around your current location.

This is useful when:

You are travelling to another city and want to see who from your network is nearby.

You are attending an event, exhibition, seminar, or business meeting and want to find nearby connections.

You want to quickly discover contacts within a selected distance range.

You want to check if important contacts are close enough to visit or call.

You want to combine nearby results with map view, filters, route planning, or quick actions.

If you want to see all location-based contacts on the map, use View Contacts on the Map. If you want directions to one specific contact, use Plan a Route to a Contact.

How Find Nearby Contacts works

Find Nearby Contacts uses your current location and the selected distance range to show saved connections near you.

The nearby distance is usually controlled through a slider or distance selector. When you increase the distance, Connecti5 can show more contacts around you. When you reduce the distance, the map focuses on a smaller nearby area.

The developer analysis confirms that the nearby distance slider ranges from 1 KM to 10 KM, uses integer steps, updates the map radius, and remembers the selected distance for future sessions.

How to find nearby contacts

Follow these steps to find nearby contacts:

  1. Open the Connecti5 app.
  2. Allow location permission if the app asks for it.
  3. Open the map or nearby section.
  4. Find the distance selector or nearby radius slider.
  5. Move the slider to select the distance range.
  6. Tap Apply Distance if the app shows an apply button.
  7. Wait for the map or nearby results to update.
  8. Tap any contact marker or contact card to view details.
  9. Use available actions such as call, message, email, WhatsApp, navigate, or route planning.

After applying the distance, Connecti5 updates the map radius and shows contacts available within the selected range.

Before you start

Before using Find Nearby Contacts, make sure location permission is enabled for Connecti5.

Also make sure your phone’s GPS or location service is turned on. Nearby results depend on your current location, so the feature may not work correctly if GPS is unavailable or inaccurate.

Your saved contacts also need valid location data. A contact with only a name and phone number may appear in your connections list but may not appear in nearby results.

What data is needed for nearby results?

Nearby results depend on two types of location data.

First, Connecti5 needs your current location. This helps the app calculate nearby contacts around you.

Second, each contact needs valid address, latitude and longitude, or map location data. Without contact location data, the app cannot calculate whether that person is near you.

The developer analysis confirms that only contacts with valid coordinates appear in nearby results.

Understanding the distance range

The distance range controls how far Connecti5 should search around your current location.

For example, a smaller distance range shows only closer contacts. A larger distance range can show more contacts, but results may become wider and less specific.

If no nearby contacts appear, increase the distance and check again.

Straight-line distance vs travel distance

Nearby distance is based on location calculation, not necessarily road travel distance.

That means a contact may be shown as nearby based on straight-line distance, but the actual travel distance by road may be longer.

The developer analysis notes that distance calculation uses the Haversine formula, which calculates straight-line distance instead of road distance.

If you want real travel direction or route options, use Plan a Route to a Contact.

What happens after applying distance?

After you apply the selected distance, the map updates with a new radius circle and nearby contacts within that range.

If contacts are available, they may appear as markers on the map. You can tap a marker to open contact details and use quick actions.

If no contacts are available in the selected range, Connecti5 may show a message asking you to adjust the range slider to show more nearby contacts.

Common problems and fixes

No nearby contacts found

Increase the distance range and check again.

Also make sure your saved contacts have valid address or location data. If your contacts do not have location details, they cannot appear in nearby results.

Location permission is denied

If location permission is denied, Connecti5 cannot accurately calculate nearby contacts around your current position.

Open your phone settings, find Connecti5, and allow location access. Then reopen the app and try again.

GPS location is inaccurate

GPS can be less accurate indoors, in basements, inside large buildings, or in areas with weak signal.

Move to an open area, turn location services off and on again, or refresh the map.

Contacts are visible in the list but not nearby

This usually means those contacts do not have usable location coordinates or they are outside the selected distance range.

Open the contact details and check whether address or location details are available.

Nearby range is too small

If your radius is set to a small distance, many contacts may be outside the range.

Increase the distance step by step until contacts appear.

I increased the distance but still see no contacts

Check whether filters are active. If filters are applied, nearby results may show only contacts matching those filters.

Clear filters and try again.

Nearby contact appears farther than expected

Nearby distance is based on straight-line distance. Actual travel distance may be different because of roads, traffic, one-way routes, or geographic barriers.

Use Plan a Route to a Contact to check the actual route.

Contact location is wrong

If a contact appears in the wrong area, the saved address or coordinates may be incorrect.

Edit the contact and update the address or location details.

Nearby results are not updating

Refresh the map or reopen the app. If the selected distance was recently changed, wait for the map to update.

Also check your internet connection.

Error or empty messages you may see

You may see a message such as:

“Adjust the range slider to show more nearby contacts.”

This usually means no contacts are available within the selected nearby distance. Increase the range, check location permission, clear active filters, or confirm that your contacts have valid location data.

Important limitations

Nearby range is limited to 1 KM to 10 KM.

Nearby distance uses straight-line calculation, not road distance.

Only contacts with valid location data can appear in nearby results.

Your current location must be available for accurate nearby search.

Indoor GPS or weak signal can affect nearby accuracy.

Contacts outside the selected radius will not appear until you increase the distance.

If filters are active, the app may show fewer nearby contacts.

Still need help?

If nearby contacts are not showing correctly, contact Connecti5 support or send feedback from the app.

When reporting the issue, share your registered email or mobile number, whether location permission is enabled, the selected distance range, whether filters are active, whether the contact has address/location details, your device name, app version, and a screenshot of the map if possible.
